Radioshack UK?
This weekend I was back in “project” mode. I was reading about a hack/alteration I would have to make to the 5″ PSOne screen to add it into any of the portable consoles. It sounded quite tricky but doable - there were a few mentions of doing this part or that part wrong would wreck the screen, which is kinda scary when you haven’t done anything like this before. Especially when I struggled to get my hands on a screen in the first place.
To keep track of the progress you can check out the Portable Console Project page. Hopefully this will keep me on track and help you follow my progress. Any suggestions let me know.
Anyway, one problem I think I may have is sourcing the bits and pieces for the different projects. Now Ben goes into detail in the book even giving the Radioshack part number. This is great but I have just checked and it doesn’t look like Radioshack post overseas. I may send them an email just to make sure but I have a feeling that I will need to find a different supplier.
I tried a quick Google search for Radioshack UK and it looks like someone has had the good idea of using the name to brand their own electronics store. It looks pretty decent but doesn’t offer the components that I require.
So its back to searching for a supplier of LED’s, Wire, Tools, Resistors, Switches and various other connectors. Does anyone know of a good UK store or store that delivers to the UK?

I’d be very interested to see how this works out, and especially if I could apply what you learn to the Wii.

This blog just literally made me smile the whole way through. I know exactly what you mean when you ask ‘how much of a geek am i?’ I sometimes ask myself that when I find myself picking apart calculators with mini-screwdrivers and watching the manga Claymore at the same time. Keep up the good work, I’ll be checking in from time to time to see how your project comes along.
Take Care ^^
We hope that you will get success in your project. Do not get confuse if things wont work out. Just go outside have a fresh air and come back to the work.
Best of luck for your project. Just believe yourself and I am sure you will be able to get the success.

There’s a radioshack at the end of the street from me. I don’t know how they stay in business. I never see anyone in there buying anything. Yet they remain. I think we could experience a nuclear blast and the radioshack would still operate.
hopefully the UK version of Radioshack will have connectors that actually fit the port they advertise. all of the cheap radioshack crap in the US really suck.
Well, I will likely work this weekend as I do most weekends. But I have to say, I do not see why people act like being “geeky” is a bad thing.
I hope you keep us up to date on your project.
